Memorial to Quong Tart in Ashfield near where he once lived in Gallop House.

Quong Tart's status was as a "good Chinaman" among his contemporary European Australians. Quong Tart's continued popularity to the neglect of other prominent Chinese Australians of the past such as Philip Lee Chun or Way Lee, highlights that this attitude has not dissipated entirely.

A Chinese Philanthropist.

If there were more Chinese residents of the same class as Quong Tart in Australia, much of the popular prejudice at present existing against his almond-eyed, ever smiling, and bland, but wonderfully cute brethren, would speedily disappear.
