From a 1930s postcard showing the Overseas Chinese hotel at the busy river crossing from the Long Du district to Shekki, the Zhongshan capital and embarkation point by ferry to Hong Kong.

A major contributor to the history of the Chinese overseas was Zhongshan County, known as Xiangshan or Heongshan until 1925.
