Wing On & Co. was founded by Gock Lock with his friends in 1897 in Haymarket. The company primarily engaged in the wholesale and retail of vegetables and fruit but later started a remittance business for overseas Chinese. Wing On Financial House was set up in Zhongshan as a delivery agent for its clients in China. Wing On & Co had been operated in different locations in Sydney. In 1911, it had a shop on 24 Campbell Street Haymarket, next to Wing Sang & Co, which operated on 20-22 Campbell Street. In the 1930s, Wing On leased a warehouse on Quay and Ultimo Streets from the City of Sydney. The building has now turned into a hotel.
