The letter was written in 1934 by Sydney's Ping Nam (aka Ye Bingnam), a well-known Chinese merchant from the county of Zengcheng to the Tung Wah Coffin Home in Hong Kong.

Scattered Legacy

The letter states that seven boxes of bones, containing the remains of 53 people, were being shipped by the Luen Fook Tong to Hong Kong for their eventual repatriation to the appropriate home village. Luen Fook Tong is the organisation in Sydney for people from or descended from Zengcheng of Guangdong.
