Arthur Hang Gong Lee born in Creswick, died of throat cancer in Hong Kong on 21 August 1907 at the age of 39. He was buried in Hong Kong Cemetery


Arthur Lee Hang Gong became the first Territory inhabitant of Chinese descent to be appointed to the police force as a Constable and interpreter in May 1884. For the next several years, Arthur often appeared in court to assist Chinese members of the community when they were called to give evidence.

Arthur took over the family's storekeeping business after his father passed away in 1892 and he continued to acquire more properties. He also owned the successful Wheel of Fortune tin mine at West Arm. He died of throat cancer in Hong Kong in 1906 at the age of 39. He was buried in Hong Kong Cemetery in Hong Kong.
