Presentation in silk to NSW Governor Earl Beauchamp, 1900

恭迎 = welcome

The leading members of the Chinese community of Sydney often followed colonial practice in making presentations to the Governors. This is a beautiful example in silk preserved and presented back to NSW in 1931 after his exile due to homosexuality.

Care was taken to mention themes of loyalty and equality regardless of race.
