Pig Oven used for a burial at Majorca

“One of the most noticeable features was a huge porker roasted whole, the method being peculiar to the Chinese, who for this purpose build a high circular oven of stones and clay, open at the top, in which, after it has been heated, the pig is suspended in it. The aperture is then closely covered and in course of time, piggy is done to a turn. No ceremony is considered complete by Chinamen with out pork and crackers."

The Tumut and Adelong Times, 20 April 1865, p.4.
