This embroidery belonged to Gladys Sym Choon who owned "The China Gift Store" at No. 233A Rundle Street which opened in 1923 selling Oriental Goods imported from China and agents in Australia.
Embroidered motifs on a cream paper background, pasted for future removal and application onto Chinese garments or accessories. The motifs depict rose, peony, blossom and some sacred objects, worked in satin stitch, as well as Chinese knots and gold couching. The original price of 5 shillings and 6 pence is written in pencil on the top left corner of paper. There are also four ink Chinese characters on the reverse of paper, and three blue ink stamps, one being "Made in China".
