The Turvey family was a wealthy family whose family vault was destroyed in 1941 to allow for road expansion. It is at this time that the 1885 headstone of Eliza Turvey was moved to Wagga General Cemetery. Carved in a non-local stone the dragon carving is very fine. The base of the headstone also once had two Chinese lions and a pagoda like item. No link with China has been discovered.
