The family collection of the Dep family, Broome, includes, family photos from China, tools, pearl divers gear, China figurines, remittance cheques, Certificate of Exemption paperwork, receipts (Chinese), a rent book from 1928, property lists, a box of dried noodles (555), an image of Margret Ah Dep's grave at Onslow, Pearl luggers ads 1945, an address book (Sydney, Thursday Is, Taishan, Hong Kong addresses), a letter (Chinese), a portrait photo, a rocking horse, a group photo, wooden carved panels, chifah tickets, a tin box, tailoring tools, a coin holder, an aerial photo of Broome 1939, KMT membership badges and cards, tools, a notebook, a Burns Philp ticket, bowls, a letter re bags shortage 1942,
and an acknowledgement card from the Consulate-General of China.
Dep family collection
Chin Loong Dep/Hop aka Ah Dep, born in Darwin, married in Hong Kong with children born in HK and Broome. He worked as tailor and owned many Broome properties. Much paperwork was involved under the White Australia Policy to keep his family in Australia.
