MR HARRY KONG FAT The death occurred on Saturday of Mr. Harry Kong Fat, a retired store keeper, of Fitzmaurice street, Wagga, at the age of 95 years. Mr. Fat was one of the pioneers of the Wagga district, arriving in Wagga from China over 78 years ago. He was well known by squatters and graziers in the early days. He did a great deal of work in clearing land for settlement, and he took contracts for clearing in which he employed hundreds of his country men. When Mr. Kong Fat arrived in Wagga there were only a few houses in the town, one of which was occupied by the late Mr. W. Warren. Mr. Fat was very highly respected for his straightforward manner, and was also a great worker for charity. He subscribed annuall to the Wagga District Hospital. Among many activities he was interested in tobacco growing. He is survived by a daughter. The funeral, will leave the Wagga District Hospital at 11 o'clock this morning for the Church of England portion of the Wagga cemetery.
